Central Animal Research Facility

Fairbanks, Alaska

PDC was selected to provide civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services for a new, state of the art biological and computational sciences facility to be located on the West Ridge of the Fairbanks Campus. The Biosciences and Computational Sciences (BICS) facility will ultimately incorporate over 100,000 square feet of built space with a total investment of over $75 million.

In the initial phase PDC provided full service engineering design for a 30,000 square foot state of the art standalone Biological Research and Diagnostics facility (BIRD). This facility provides central support for campus animal research activities. The facility includes research animal holding and procedure functions, surgery, necropsy, waste handling and laboratory functions, as well as administrative and teaching space.
